Chair

About the role

The HOPE Foundation
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow

The HOPE Foundation has recently been established by The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, an organisation which since 1599 has been working to unite health professionals with the common aim of enhancing patient care. The skills, commitment and passion of its membership help to set the highest standards in healthcare. The Foundation is a new charitable and philanthropic fund which aims to improve access to good healthcare for those living in challenging circumstances. Working in partnership with others, it will work towards the equality of services for those who are most in need, breaking down barriers and bringing people together to improve healthcare.

The Foundation will be dedicated to raising funds, through contributions from fellows, members and friends of the Royal College and working with a broad range of funding partners and philanthropic organisations. It will enable donors to support well-formed, focussed activities locally, nationally and internationally. In recent weeks two projects have received support from the Foundation, these are the Glasgow City Mission and the Kings Sierra Leone Partnership.

The board will consist of a Chair and 2 Non Executive Directors alongside 2 Trustees from the Royal College. Naturally the role of the Chair is regarded as an appointment with considerable significance as it will have a key role to play in establishing the Foundation. In due course a Foundation Manager will also be appointed.
